OUR STANCE AGAINST BIASED POLICING

What is biased policing?
BIASED POLICING – The inappropriate consideration of specified characteristics while enforcing the law or providing police services. Specified characteristics includes, but is not limited to, race, ethnic background, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, age, disability, or any other legally protected characteristics.

It is the policy of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office to prevent and prohibit the practice of bias policing and any other discriminatory practice by members of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

Members of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office are strictly prohibited from engaging in racial profiling, discriminatory practices, and bias policing of individuals.

Reporting Bias
If you wish to report a case of Bias Policing please contact the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office by:
· Coming in person to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office located at 1700 W Leonard Street
· Calling the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency number (850) 436-9620 and requesting a supervisor
· Calling the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Unit (850) 436-9443
