Robert Letroy Howard has been charged with the murder of Naomi Jones. This announcement was made on Thursday June 8 at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office by Sheriff David Morgan. Utilizing both traditional and technical investigative techniques the ECSO gathered the evidence needed to identify and charge Howard who is a registered sex offender in Alabama. The FBI and FDLE along with the State Attorney office assisted in this matter. Among the evidence collected was video of a vehicle linked to Howard at the scene where her body was placed at Eightmile Creek. Assistant State Attorney Greg Marcille said that the charge will be capital murder and that given the information known at present it is likely that the death penalty will be sought in this case.
