Dawn Brazwell is the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Human Resource Manager.  Dawn has over 20 years of experience in the Human Resources field.  She has a strong knowledge in recruitment, employee relations, collective bargaining, leadership and employee development, training, compensation, benefits and workers’ compensation. She has provided Human Resources services to manufacturing, distribution and public agencies.  Dawn earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Troy University and has obtained the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification through Human Resources Certification Institute.  Dawn is a member of the local Greater Pensacola Society for Human Resource Management (GPSHRM), as well as, a national member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).  She is also an annual volunteer for SHRM at the State and National conferences.

The Sheriff’s Human Resources Division is responsible for the recruitment and processing of applicants and new employees. This task included the coordinating and scheduling of application reviews, pre-employment polygraphs, physical agility tests, background investigations, oral interview boards, drug screening, physical examinations, and psychological evaluations on all sworn and certified new hires.

The Human Resources Unit is also responsible for the “New Employee Orientation Program” to acquaint new hires with the mission and functions of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. This presentation instructs new hires in the areas of sexual harassment, diversity, personnel policies, accreditation, insurance benefits, and Florida Retirement System.
