Range Training

The Training unit is dedicated to providing training and career development opportunities to all members of the Sheriff’s Office which includes the development of new skills, improving and updating existing skills, and promoting awareness of new techniques and technologies.

Firearms Training

Training is responsible for managing the firing range and ensuring that all officers qualify with their weapons twice a year. This training is conducted with static targets and scenario based training.

ATV Training

Training is also responsible for instructing Driver Training and ATV training. Driver training is conducted every other year to ensure all officers receive up-to-date training on driving techniques and vehicle specific operations. Officers who complete the ATV Training course are then certified to operate ATV’s on Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key.

Driver Training

Training also oversees the Field Training Program for newly hired Deputy Sheriff’s and Detention Deputies, which is established to familiarize the deputies with policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
