Main Jail

The Escambia County Main Jail is 6 stories and is made up of two phases. Phase 1 was opened in 1983 and its housing consists of individual cells that hold 2 inmates and can be locked down. Phase 2 includes dormitory style housing in which inmates are housed in cells within pods and it was opened in 1984. In both phases, officers monitor the inmates from outside the housing units.

Central Booking and Detention

All individuals booked into the Escambia County Jail are booked in through the Central Booking and Receiving Facility. From this facility, the inmates are assigned a cell or housing unit and transported to that location either at the Main Jail or CBD. Central Booking and Detention was opened in December of 1999 and feature Direct Supervision, in which the officers monitor the inmates from within their housing areas. In CBD, inmates are housed in large open rooms with bunks.
