 The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting your privacy and offering technology that gives you the most powerful and safe online experience. This Statement of

Privacy applies to eReports, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Online Reporting System and governs data collection and usage. By using eReports, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.

 Police Reports Are Public Records

It is important to bear in mind that some of the information contained within a police report is a matter of public record and as such it must be disclosed upon request. However, the Escambia

County Sheriff’s Office does not release information that is exempt from public disclosure or that is confidential.

 Collection of your Personal Information

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office collects the following types of information during online reporting:

  • Personal information such as e-mail address, name, home or work addresses or telephone number.
  • Anonymous demographic information, which is not unique to you, such as your ZIP code, age, gender, etc.

 In addition, information about your computer hardware and software that can include: your IP address, browser type, domain names, access times and referring Website addresses. This information is used by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office for the operation of the service, to maintain quality of the service, and to provide general statistics regarding use of eReports.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office collects and uses your personal information to operate the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office eReports System. The Escambia County

Sheriff’s Office may also contact you via surveys to conduct research about your opinion of current services or of potential new services that may be offered. The Escambia County Sheriff’s

Office does not sell, rent or lease its eReports user lists to third parties. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office may share data with trusted partners to help us perform statistical analysis, send you email or postal mail, or provide customer support. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.
